Are you playing out on Playday?
Wednesday 1st August 2012 is Playday -
the national day for play.
Playday is a celebration of children’s right to play, and a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives.
If your group are interested in encouraging kids in your neighbourhood to play out, holding a Playday event could be a good way to get started.
There are lots of helpful tips, resources and ideas online:
Newsome Playday
In Newsome, there is an annual Playday at Ashenhurst Recreation Ground and woodlands, organised by Newsome Out to Play. This year’s event is on 1st August from 11am to 4pm.
Activities include: treasure hunts, rope swings, old fashioned field games, crafts, messy play, scarecrow competition, woodland trails and lots more.
Our Playday brings together local community groups and volunteers with Kirklees Playteam, Surestart and other expert play providers. It’s a great way to enjoy our local open spaces.
