The theme of Dementia Awareness Week™ 2012 is ‘Remember the person’.

The aim is to encourage people to ‘Remember the person’ by looking beyond someone’s diagnosis of dementia and engaging with them.

Alzheimer’s Society is calling on people to spend time, whether it’s five minutes or half an hour, to learn a bit more about dementia.

Visit www.alzheimers.org.uk/remembertheperson to find out more.

There are over 4,500 people in Kirklees living with dementia and 750,000 in the UK. Many more are affected through looking after a relative with dementia.

There are events and opportunities for people to learn more about dementia and Alzheimers going on during the week:

  • Information and posters will be in various locations around the area, including local libraries and Gateway to Care.
