Huddersfield Area Committee Meeting

7th August 2012 at 7pm, Huddersfield Town Hall

All residents and community groups welcome

Theme of the meeting is: Tackling poverty: Thriving not just surviving

Local residents and community groups are invited to the meeting of Huddersfield Area Committee on Tuesday 7th August from 7pm at Huddersfield Town Hall. The theme of the meeting is Tackling Poverty, with a focus on how communities can be supported to thrive, not just survive.

Phil Longworth from the council’s Well Being and Communities directorate will give an overview of the council’s Tackling Poverty strategy and what this means for residents within Huddersfield.

Residents, community and voluntary organisations are invited to come along, get involved and exchange information on what they know is already happening to support residents in Huddersfield.

Area Committee Chair, Cllr Judith Hughes, said: “This year we want to make the area committee more inclusive and we are encouraging local people and community and voluntary groups to come along and take an active part in the meetings. The committee will focus on the people of Huddersfield and look at positive ways in which we can help each other in these difficult times.”

The committee will also consider several proposals for funding from its budget.
